Sets of Instructions to Convert a Computer into an Educational Information Server Running on Linux Mint

1) Before converting a used computer into an educational information server, determine if a used computer running MS Windows should be converted to Linux Mint or not.  It should be noted that Microsoft is no longer supporting Windows 7 and often upgrading a Windows 7 computer to Windows 10 often causes it to run extremely slow.  It is possible to convert a computer running Windows 7 to an educational information server, but it is likely more beneficial to replace Windows 7 with Linux Mint.  To view our recommended minimum requirements for converting a used computer in into an educational information server, visit:

3) Each of the above videos include subtitles in several different languages.  To view the subtitles, click on the “Gear image” button/icon and then select “subtitles”.  Then select the language of your choice.

If the English voice in video is speaking too fast for you, you can slow it down.  To do so, click on the “Gear image” button and then click on “Playback Speed” and then click on “.75”.
